We will be hosting our 3rd annual Greendale Love Local Food Festival at Exeter Castle on Saturday 15th August from 10am – 6pm.

Following the success of the last two years, we are excited to announce the return of our free-to-attend food festival, bringing a taste of the countryside to Exeter’s City Centre.

For the foodies

Our popular, family-friendly event brings together a whole host of local and independent businesses in a celebration of all things food and drink.

With over 80 local producers attending, food lovers will have the opportunity to taste and purchase some of the best Devon has to offer.

Alongside our popular Greendale BBQ, bakery, delicatessen and fishmongers, we will be back hosting some local favourites which are stocked in our farm shop, including cheese connoisseurs Quickes and Sharpham, local legends West Country Olives and Nicola’s chocolate, plus talented tipple makers Bar Buoy and Powderkeg.

This year, we have an incredible line-up of street food vendors serving up all kinds of mouthwatering flavours, plus we are pleased to welcome some new additions to this year’s festival.

Entertainment for all

Once again, the stage will be set for an entire day of entertainment for visitors to enjoy while tucking into fantastic food and browsing local artisan goods.

We are pleased to be collaborating with Food Drink Devon at the festival again this year, with a morning of live talks and demonstrations. From artisan cheesemakers and innovative drinks producers to nutrition experts and street food specialists, these 20-minute sessions will provide an opportunity to hear directly from local businesses, discover the stories behind their products, and pick up inspiration to enjoy Devon’s exceptional food and drink at home.

The festival will be ramping up in the afternoon from 1pm with back-to-back sessions of live music from talented local musicians and bands. This year the line-up includes Sing Out Community Choir, Chris Ostler, Monday’s Chyld, Aaron Samuel, Kara-Jade Gelder.

Championing sustainability

We are proud that the impact of our Love Local Food Festival can extend beyond the event itself, by raising awareness of sustainable practices.

Through our event promotions, we will be encouraging visitors to travel by public transport, helping to raise awareness of the services provided in Exeter.

We will also be taking the opportunity to deliver our Powered by Cow Poo renewable energy campaign, through interactive games and screens, educating visitors on the potential and benefits of renewable energy sources.

Supporting local

The festival also provides a prime opportunity for raising awareness and supporting low food miles through championing local brands and producers. Plus, we can offer a way for customers to continue shopping locally throughout the year, through building relationships with local producers and brands and buying from Greendale Farm Shop.
