Greendale previously owned Exmouth Docks in the 1980s. At that time, more than 600 vessels a year landed coal, herring and other cargoes here.
Operated by the Greendale Group, Exmouth Docks Company is a statutory harbour authority, responsible for running a safe harbour in compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code and other relevant regulations. The company works in partnership with Exeter City Council as a shared competent harbour authority for pilotage, reflecting the close operational relationship along this section of the estuary. Its roles includes maintaining harbour safety, monitoring compliance, and issuing notices where necessary to keep harbour users informed of any navigational or operational matters.
